South Metro DFL Senior Caucus

Three years ago a number of DFL Senior Caucus members started a monthly lunch and information meeting in the south metro area. As time passed, we outgrew two venues and gained chapter status.

Today we meet at the Pizza Ranch on Pilot Knob Road in Apple Valley. Our meetings are each second Wednesday of the month. Meetings are preceded by executive board at 11:00 a.m. Our membership meeting starts with Pizza Ranch’s lunch buffet at 12:00 and continues with presentations. We do not endorse

Retired WBL Teacher on a MIssion

April 13th. The flight included being in the cockpit as the plane flew up the North Shore towards

Canada. Watching the ramp door open over Split Rock LIghthouse was spectacular. This ramp is used

for supply drops and yet the plane is also used to transport injured a nd deceased soldiers during war.

The flight was exciting, but very loud even when using earplugs. Mr. Ratliff retired from WBL schools

in 2006 and has been busy in various part time jobs along with

District educator establishing math curriculum for

Macedonia

As a long-time teacher and current math consultant, Judy Rohde has impacted the education of

thousands of students in District 622. Now an entire country of students will be able to say the

same.

Rohde is in the process of establishing a national math curriculum for the country of

Macedonia and she is also part of a team that is training the country’s teachers to implement the

new program.

A past winner of the Presidential Award in Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching,

Rohde was contacted last spring by Shirley Miske from

Mike Resman retired from the Rochester School District in 2007, after working as an Occupational Therapist for 25 years. He has not been idle in his retirement. He is a prolific author and is also a lay minister in his church. He is a graduate of the Occupational Therapy Program at the U of M and first worked at the Rochester State Hospital until it closed in 1981. He then went to NYU, where he received his Master's degree, after which he returned to Rochester to work in the public schools.

Diane Dettmann has never been at a loss for words. In fact, she was writing when she was five years old. She taught in the St. Paul Public Schools for thirty-seven years before retiring. During the last six years of her career, Diane became a Literacy Staff Development Coach where she facilitated teacher training in areas of both reading and writing instruction. Her educational

experiences have equipped her with many great skills. As an elementary teacher, she attained National Board Certification, earned her Master’s Degree from Hamline University and has taught literacy classes at the
